Newborns

Newborn sessions

Newborns don't stay little for too long, so I recommend that you schedule your newborn session prior to your baby’s birth to ensure a spot on my calendar. Contact me during your second trimester and I’ll pencil you in with your due date. Once the baby is born, contact me to arrange the session's real date.

Newborn sessions must be scheduled within the first 30 days of their life. However, the best time is between 3-10 days after their arrival, if you want to achieve those curvy and beautiful sleeping poses. I’ll be moving them around and scrunching them into those sweet sleepy newborn poses, so I want to make sure they’re sleepy enough to allow me to handle them. And babies just tend to do a lot better with the session within their first 7 days, as they are mostly sleeping at all time. Somewhere around day 8 they discover the joy that is stretching! Once that happens…they’re not about to let me get them into those curly poses easily. After day 14, it’s almost impossible to get baby into that deep sleep that came so easily in their first few days…so it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to get them into any of the more bendy newborn poses. And, keep in mind that newborn acne (and sometimes colic) is likely to flare up after day 14. While I can easily edit problem areas, I prefer to do as little retouching as possible to baby’s skin.

The sessions take place in my home studio in Walderslade, Kent, ME5 0SN. It's full of props, backgrounds, floors, baskets, hats, headbands, beanbags that you could choose from. I don't do home sessions as it's impossible for me to take all that stuff to your place. The studio is heated well, so if it's cold outside, make sure you got something light to wear for yourself.

Newborn sessions take between 2 and 4 hours, depending on baby's mood and willingness to sleep. We'll do breaks for feeding just make sure you've brought enough food for 4 hours, if not breastfeeding.

You could also choose the new option I offer - I could travel reasonable time (subject to availability) and have a Newborn Session in the comfort of your home. I know it's very difficult for some new mums to travel in the early days, so that is great opportunity to have the session done. There is additional charge of £30, time and props are limited but photos will be more then lovely :) No need to clean your home (I'm not coming to check if it's clean and I know it is not priority number 1 when having a newborn). All I need is a good window light and smiles :)
